Free Speech on Campus

A few weeks ago, Lawrence Summers, President of Harvard University, said that men, on average, might be better than women in math and science.  To normal people, this is just common knowledge.  It's no big deal.  Ho Hum.  But to the multi-culti, political correct maniacal, insane Left, this was sacrilegious, turd in the punchbowl heresy!   One particularly mentally deranged  kool-aid drinker had to stumble from the proceedings in tears, practically physically disabled by the very effrontery of such a suggestion.  There were howls from the academic community for apologies and even calls for resignation.

Then, a few weeks later, it was revealed that a college professor, Ward Churchill, had labeled the victims of the 9-11 atrocities as "little Eichmans" and had said that America needed more 9-11s and that America should be eliminated from the globe.  Normal people thought, "What an asshole" and, "why is this guy teaching our children at an American university at American taxpayer expense."

But..... the exact same people who called for the head-on-a-platter of Lawrence Summers for saying something that is completely ordinary common knowledge were suddenly caught up in a first amendment furor in defense of this vile monster, Churchill!  This man must not be censured for his views!  How dare you deny him his freedom of speech!

How do you reconcile these totally divergent reactions; the one of outrage at perfectly normal views, and the one of conciliation for loathesome, demented views?  Easy.  THEY HATE AMERICA!
